We don’t realize until we take a step back, but there’s likely to be people in our lives that don’t always have our best intentions at heart. And although that can be upsetting to see, it’s better for you to cut them out of your life than to let them continue their behavior towards you. Friendships come and go, and you grow as an individual and will often find yourself growing out of friendships, so don’t feel bad if you need to distance yourself away from them for your own mental health.

Try Things To Help Keep You Calm

When you’re struggling with your mental health, whether that’s with a panic attack or in those moments where you’re getting worked up, there are things you can do to help. Look at a variety of treatments, therapy, and activities you can do to help keep you calm in these moments. That could be doing some sort of exercise to help release those positive endorphins to looking at the differences between tai chi and qigong to see if either help with your state of mind. Everyone’s different, so don’t feel bad if something hasn’t worked for you, there are still lots of other things to try out.

Don’t Drink When You’re Not Feeling Yourself

Alcohol is a depressant, and if you’re drinking it when you don’t feel yourself, then it’s clearly going to make you feel worse as that temporary high fades away. That relaxed and happy feeling that you get when drinking is nice when you are happy but it can feed on your sadness just as aggressively. Keep the drink away from you when you’re feeling low and try to keep yourself busy if you feel that pull to drink. Find a suitable alternative like herbal tea or flavoured water and get friends and family to provide you with distractions.

Ask For Help

We all deal with our emotions differently, but the worst thing you can do when it comes to your mental health is to keep everything bottled up. You can be your own worst enemy when it comes to mind, and there’s nothing wrong with asking for help. In fact, it’s a sign of bravery to make yourself vulnerable and to ask for someone to speak to or to lend an ear to your thoughts. They might not even have to give you any advice, it’s just that reassurance of being heard.
