Simple Haircare Tips

Sometimes haircare can seem a complicated business. There are so many different products to use and how does anyone decide between vintage looks like in 90s hairstyles, short cuts, long flowing locks or any other of the myriad options for your mop?  Well don’t stress, when it comes to haircare you just have to go back to the basics. Here are some simple tips to keep your hair looking great whatever the style:

  1. Leave in shampoo and conditioner for a few minutes

No need to use expensive or fancy products, the action of most shampoos and conditioners can be improved by simply leaving them in for a little longer. We tend to rinse our hair as soon as we have a good lather, but see the different it makes if you wait a couple of minutes before washing out both shampoo and conditioner.

  1. Change up your products now and then

Again, you don’t have to spend lots of money to look good. By simply changing the products you use you’ll get a better, refreshed look. When you always use the same shampoo and conditioner the product can build up in your hair making it look heavy and dull. Each time the shampoo bottle comes to an end, try something different and keep changing every time.

  1. Pat, don’t rub dry

Your hairdresser has probably told you this many-a-time, but it is advice hardly any of us follow. Rubbing your hair dry will cause individual hairs to stick out and cause frizz; by patting dry you can avoid this fate. Use an extra absorbent towel to make the process easier and just factor in a bit more time to ensure your hair always looks great.

  1. Use a leave in conditioner

If you have particularly dry or frizzy hair, leave-in conditioner is a god-send. This can be used on top of your normal conditioner when your hair needs an extra splash of moisture. Many smell great too, leaving your hair fresh and fragrant.

  1. Get some professional care every now and then

As much as we like to look after ourselves, it’s worth investing in a bit of pampering for your hair now and then. Get a proper conditioning treatment, a good haircut, tips on how to recreate trendy looks within 80s or 90s hairstyles or simply a demonstration on how to effectively blow-dry your hair. Splashing out once in a while will keep your hair looking good day-to-day.

So, love your hair and it’ll love you back. Follow these simple tips and don’t worry about anything more complicated. Good hair is always worth it.
